Changes to our Business Dental Insurance products

Available for Corporate and SME new business and renewals from 1 September 2018

As of 1 September 2018, Bupa business dental insurance products will change to make sure we’re offering your clients the best value in the market, especially when it comes to preventative care. These questions can be used to support your client conversations and help answer your clients’ questions about these new benefits.

  • We’ve increased the benefit limits across the products, particularly for preventative care (preventative care promise available with Dental Plan policies levels 3 and 4) and conditions which can impact employees and businesses the most, including dental injury and oral cancer cover
  • Due to the vast expansion of our dental centre network, we’re now able to settle claims directly in-practice through No Fuss, No Forms claiming, when employees use selected dental centres in our Dental Insurance Network. This means they don’t need to pay up front and claim it back
  • If employees use a dentist in the Bupa Dental Insurance network, they’ll benefit from 20% off general treatment, meaning benefit limits can go further^.
  • Dental Choice is now available to SME clients

As Bupa have been the market-leader in health insurance for many years, we recognise that employers look to us for cover for all elements of their employees’ health. With the market for both employer and employee funded group dental insurance schemes growing considerably in recent years, we recognise that dental insurance is continually a benefit that employees value. As a result of this, we’re focusing our efforts in growing our share in the dental insurance market and we hope you’re on board to help us achieve this.

With the recent expansion of our dental care practice business, we’re able to use our well-regarded health expertise and extended health provisioning to offer employees no fuss, no forms claiming. With centres spanning across the UK, we’re confident we can provide our dental customers with convenient access to dental care. We’ve changed our dental insurance policies to reflect this and make the most of the unique offering we’re now able to provide.

We want to better serve our business clients and their employees and use insight to improve our products to ensure they meet their needs. We know that over 60% of dental insurance claims are made for preventative treatment and therefore increasing benefit limits in this area has been a key aspect of the product improvements.

From 1 September 2018, all new schemes will have these new benefits as standard. Existing clients will move onto these new benefits when they come to renew.

We know that employees most value preventative treatment through their policies, including routine examinations, scale and polishes and small X-rays. These types of treatments make up almost two-thirds of dental insurance claims.

Because of this, we now offer generous benefit limits in this area. Our Dental Plan policy (Levels 3 and 4) also guarantees no unexpected costs for preventative treatment within their usage levels if they use selected practices in our Bupa Dental Insurance Network. You can use to see eligible practices.

  • We are the only dental insurer to provide no fuss, no forms claiming as standard when using selected practices in our Dental Insurance Network, because of our commitment to expanding our dental practice coverage
  • Our Dental Plan policy provides the most generous cover in the market across preventative care, oral cancer, dental injury and emergency dental treatment
  • Our oral cancer cover has no financial or time limits when employees are referred for treatment with Bupa partnership consultant at partnership facilities (six month waiting period applies)

The Bupa dental insurance network is a quality approved nationwide collection of dentists that offer 20% discount on general dental treatment for Bupa dental insurance members. The network includes Bupa Dental Care Practices and other private practices who have agreed to provide this offer to our members.

The Dental Insurance Network is not only a discount network, we also provide added peace of mind by ensuring  that the dentists we chose to work with meet our quality standards, which include satisfactory CQC (and regional UK equivalent) accreditation, meeting all General Dental Council standards, all relevant health and safety accreditations and being able to evidence a well run practice with a clinical team that has appropriate continuing professional development in place.
